Since our beginning in 2002, we have developed a dedicated team with over 50 years of combined experience in animal care, nutrition and health information, who truly believe in the philosophy and purpose of Civilized Nature.

Civilization and Nature are connected through the animals in our communities. Our animals share in the most private and public aspects of our lives. They work with us, play with us, help us when we’re disabled, find us when we’re lost, teach us to laugh, and to be responsible. They even help us heal when we’re sick. Animals ultimately provide for us in a way that nothing else can. The animals of our community are the natural healers and teachers that we welcome and care for in our own homes. Through our relationships with animals we develop the understanding of what a Civilized Nature in ourselves can do to enrich relationships in our own homes as well as those in the greater community.

Our store is built around the belief that the care we give to the animals in our community reflects the spirit of the individuals in our community. We want to promote vital and harmonious lives in our community through the personal care of the animals in it. This is our way of giving back to the community that has been so generous to us.

This means we do more than just say we "evaluate our products carefully”. Civilized Nature strives for two things in its approach to providing products and services to the animals of our community- One is INFORMATION- the other is BALANCE.

We provide a balance of knowledge in our products and information about the animals we are dedicated to providing for, with an understanding of the great diversity in the people of our community.

When other stores use words or phrases like:  "only the healthiest ", "wholesome”, "organic” or "natural” to describe the foods and supplements they carry, you may feel more comfortable buying your food from them than you would buying at the grocery store. We would too. That’s a good thing, and those are valuable resources to have in a community.

At Civilized Nature we like to think we take it a step further. We believe INFORMATION about who makes the food, how your animal’s digestive system works, and  what the ingredients actually are designed to do, will help you choose a food,  supplement or treat better suited to your animal’s health, age, weight, activity level and immune status.

We know not all animals are designed the same, and no one food, supplement, toy or treat will serve them all. We also know each family that cares for these animals is different from its neighbor. This is why we strive for BALANCE in our approach to offering and recommending our products.

We provide what we have researched as quality, safe, enjoyable and necessary products. We do not pretend to use them all on our own animals. Our dogs, cats, birds, small animals and even fish or reptiles, will not have the same needs or likes as yours.

We do know that all our products are quality, reliable products. Some are just for fun. Some are serious health or behavior aids. 

We will not pretend to have all the answers, and we will continue to change our product lines to stay true to our core health and nutrition research. We will always choose and recommend our products, tools, and services based upon our high research and INFORMATION standards. Your animals deserve it.

It is our goal to provide the resources our customers need to do their best to ensure the longevity and happiness of the animals they care for.
