Civilized Nature
is a name which combines the elements that make up our society, our culture and our manners with the world that naturally occurs outside those elements.  Pet owners are a wonderful example of the merging of the creatures of nature with the civil activities of our daily lives.
As pet owners we must "civilize"(make polite) our animals (nature), while treating them in a "civilized"(humane) manner. The balance of the two word definitions ultimately involves respect for the natural world of animals and their natural behavior, and the desire to make animals a part of our civilized households and society.

The real key is that our own natures must be civilized in order to find that unique bond of respect between animals and people that shapes the whole rewarding experience of pet ownership.

Civilized Nature is founded on the belief that due to the uniqueness of each animal, there are many different methods of pet care for the same species. No one method is suitable to all animals, just as no one food or toy is right for all. However, there is an understanding of animal care based upon solid research into the natural behavior, physical needs and psychology of animals, which should be the standard of measurement for all methods of care, and choices in the products we purchase to enhance their health and lifestyles.

Civilized Nature's (CN) animal care instruction is based upon experience, reputable literature and instruction, and continued investigation into the best methods of pet care. We believe the promotion of balanced pet care based upon the natural needs of each species and each pet's unique personality will provide the best for pets and people alike.
It is also our belief that animals provide a unique factor in the structure of our community. Animals participate in the most private and public aspects of our lives. We have animals who assist the disabled, those who are part of search and rescue teams, working animals who assist police, shepherd, and teach. Animals entertain us, participate in sports, comfort us, speak to us, and fascinate us in so many ways. Most of all, animals unite us. Let's face it- people with pets like to talk. They like to talk about their pets. We talk about our pets as an extension of ourselves. Our pets provide the link from person to person, neighbor to neighbor, friend to friend.

By creating a meeting place for pets and their owners, CN hopes to bring together those who have the common bond of animal companionship and care in many different forms. We believe this creates a closer community, while providing an important information source through clubs, organizations, events, and other forms of animal related activities. CN believes that this coming together of people within our communities can make a great difference in the unity of those communities, and bring better things to those who live there.

CN strongly supports the efforts of rescue shelters and organizations as an alternative to the breeding of currently available animals. We likewise, understand the desire for the bonding which may occur with an infant or young animal, and the need for breeding programs for endangered or scarce animals. It is our belief that each pet purchase, adoption, or breeding program should be evaluated on an individual basis, with the first consideration being the welfare of the animal destined to become a pet. With this in mind, CN hopes to provide the local shelters and rescue organizations with the support and exposure they need to better care for and find permanent homes for the adoptable animals in our communities, information and supplies needed by those who have pets, and resources for those just becoming interested in pet ownership.

Civilized Nature hopes to be a great benefit to our community for many years to come.
