The latest and greatest- if not just LATE.
Boy, time has gone so fast. I'ts been a whole month since I last got to the "blog"
I've been told I can't call this an actual Blog, as it doesn't contain all the normal elements.
So....I've decided to call it "Special Interest of the Month". We keep a Special Interest section on the left side bar, so I'm working on transfering the past so called "Blogs" to that page, and listing them by month. Hopefully I will have that figured before the end of the week.'
So onward to the NEWS******
Check out the calendar- July 12th is our 6th Annual Customer Appreciation Day!
From 10am to 5pm we will be celebrating all our wonderful customers (YOU), and having hourly FREE raffle giveaways.
We have representatives from the Reading with Rover program and the Delta Society, who do wonderful work in our community with their service animal partners.
We have representatives from our dog and cat food companies who will offer free samples and answer your questions.
Bring your dog to grab a ball from the wading pool, and get a free ice cream for yourself!
Enjoy our sale items throughout the store!
It should be lots of fun!
AND NOW........(drum roll please) ....THE PUPPY!
Yes, he's here. He's actually been here since June 8th. That's three weeks already! That's one of the reasons I've been away from the website for so long. Now that we're all settled in, I can happily say he is everything I hoped for. Quite the handful like all puppies, but just a doll. I named him HUGO.
My daughter and I picked him up at the airport in the after noon. He flew Delta, and had one stop before he came to us. I was a nervous wreck, but Psyche was there to help keep me calm, and ride with the sleepy boy on the way home.
We had a bit of a time removing his stitches from his ear cropping after the first week. He was quite unhappy with us, but we managed to get the cup off his head, and all the sticky yuck off his ears.
We put new trial stances on that left lots of air on his cropped ears, and very light weight.
True to being a puppy he managed to get them so dirty and pulled out of shape about every two to three days.
I realized they were pulling his ears back, so we had to go fo the traditional taping method.
Donna (Preston's mom) (That's him below in one of his winner pictures.) came by and gave me a crash course and helped with our first traditional tape job.
Ear cropping and care is something I may write about later. I have mixed feelings now that I've experienced the results and care.
Needless to say puppies are quite flexible and adaptable. Hugo is doing great, and is a happy "little" boy.
Please come by to see him when you can. He is with me at the store most days, except Wednesday.
By the way, there are still two fawn colored boys from the litter that need homes. The whole litter had great temperments, and the breeder started the pups very well.
Hugo was already sitting and lying down on command when he came to me. Now, that's not to say he actually has an attention span that lasts more than a nanosecond, but he's well started, and we'll keep working on it.
We started our first training class today at Puppy Manners in Woodinville. (They hold classes at the Cascade Kennel location.) Becky Bishop and her husband Dave have a great beginner class for puppies that will hopefully prepare Hugo to enter the world of therapy dogs. Becky is the founder of the Reading with Rover program. Check out the website to learn more ...http://www.readingwithrover.org/
It will be about two years before Hugo will be mature. We will be working on all the skills he will need to be calm and well mannered around all types of people and animals. He can use lots of help, so please feel free to visit him. He may be sleeping alot of the time, but that's just puppiness. You may have to come back if he's alseep.
Here's a few more cute photos of my new boy.
Luna decided a new buddy wasn't such a bad thing after all.
Hugo being a cutie in the back of the car. He met horses that day.
Hugo being a little baby in the back yard. O.K. a big boned little boy. He will problably reach 150 lbs or more.
More as he grows. There's definately lots of sleeping and growing going on.
